T&T in World U20 4x1 finalKwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 14.07.2018Trinidad and Tobago will bid for precious metal out of lane two in the men's 4x100 metres event at the IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland, today. The final is scheduled for 9.40am (TT time). In the qualifying round, yesterday, Kion Benjamin, Carlon Hosten, David Pierce and Tyrell Edwards combined for a third-place finish in heat three. The T&T quartet's 39.67 seconds clocking earned the country a championship race lane on time. Iantha Wright exited the women's 200m event in the semis. The T&T sprinter finished fourth in heat one and 15th overall in 24.41 seconds. Earlier, Wright booked her semifinal lane on time, the 18-year-old clocking 24.16 for sixth spot in the opening first round heat. Wright was 22nd fastest. Another T&T athlete, Akilah Lewis was listed to compete in heat two, but did not face the starter. Tyriq Horsford landed the spear well short of the 72.00 metres automatic qualifying distance, and did not progress to the men's javelin final.
