Ahye set for England's 150m raceRachael Thomspon-King :: Trinidad Guardian :: 06.09.2018Commonwealth champion Michelle-Lee Ahye heads up the women's field over the 150 metres at the innovative Great North CityGames street athletics meeting in Gateshead, England, on Saturday. The T&T 26-year-old sprinter won her first major championship on the Gold Coast in April after previously taking silver as part of the 4x100m relay team at the World Championships in Beijing in 2015. Ahye will line up against Great British pair Jodie Williams and Daryll Neita. Both are European Championships gold medallists as part of Great Britain relay teams, with Neita part of the 4x100m team that won in Berlin this summer, and Williams a winner in Zurich four years ago. Ahye will be seeking more success after getting two silver medals in two-days apart, first in Germany, then in Croatia, earlier this week. The national sprint champion secured silver in the women's 100 metres dash at the ISTAF IAAF World Challenge meet in Berlin, on Sunday, clocking 11.13 seconds to finish behind Ivory Coast sprinter Marie-Josee Ta Lou (11.08). Neita competed in the event and placed fourth in 11.24. In Zagreb on Wednesday in an IAAF World Challenge, Ahye clocked 11.28 to again follow Ta Lou to the line. The winner crossed in 11.05. Another T&T sprinter Kyle Greaux competed in the men's 100m dash and he finished fifth in 10.33 seconds |
