Commonwealth Women’s Half Marathon Championships

Tonya Nero finished 21st in the women's race at the inaugural Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships in Cardiff, Wales, on Sunday. The Trinidad and Tobago distance runner completed the 13.1-mile course in one hour, 17 minutes, six seconds—her fastest clocking this year.

Sunday's run bettered the 1:19:53 clocking Nero had produced on the same course, at the 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships.

"It was a perfect race day," Nero posted on Facebook, following her fine run. "I'm always very grateful for the opportunity to run and represent. Thanking God for this wonderful gift."
