Late to the party Yokohama ready and willing ahead of 2019 IAAF World Relays
Kwame Laurence :: Trinidad Express :: 28.11.2018The withdrawal of Bahamas as host nation for the 2019 IAAF World Relays was just what the doctor did not order for athletics' world governing body. But thanks to Japan's second largest city, Yokohama, challenge number one has been dealt with.
Yokohama came to the IAAF's rescue, taking on the onerous task of hosting the fourth edition of the World Relays meet. Planning and executing any international athletics event is tough enough as it is. Doing it at short notice, after another country reneges on its commitment adds exponentially to the difficulty.
