T&T's Michelle-Lee Ahye sped to victory in the women's 100 metres at the Orange County Classic in Southern California, USA on Saturday.

The local sprinter clocked a season-best 10.94 seconds aided by a legal wind of 2.0 m/s to beat a field which included solely American competitors. Morolake Akinosun followed Ahye to the line in a time of 10.98 and in third place was Twanisha Terry in 11.01. On May 1, Terry sprinted to victory in 10.94 to win the dash at the Pure Athletics Global Invitational in Clermont, Florida.

Filling the remaining spots were Destiny Smith-Barnett (11.06), English Gardiner (11.23) and Lauren Rain Williams (11.39), respectively. Ky Westbrook did not start.

Ahye, 30, advanced from the preliminary round with the fastest qualifying time of 11.02 after winning heat two in as many, ahead of Gardiner (11.15) and Williams (11.35).

This was the second time this season that Ahye has gone below 11 seconds in the 100m. She ran 10.96 for a third-place finish in her heat at the USATF Golden Games on April 16. She, unfortunately, did not finish the final. Terry emerged the winner in that event with a time of 10.77.
