More Decathletes Wanted by Bernard Linley
The death in 2015 of American hurdler Joel Shankle brought back memories of seeing him win the first ever decathlon held in Trinidad-Tobago. At the 1956 AAA Championships decathlon Shankle was first (5982 pts) followed by the LASC high jumper Learie Scipio (4984pts) and QRC student Leroy Williams (4447 pts). New Records In Six Events During 2015 by Bernard Linley
Trinidad and Tobago athletes set new national records in six standard track and field events during 2015. Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott bettered his own javelin record (85.77 in 2014) no less than three times with 86.20 in Rome (4 June), 86.43 in Birmingham (7 June) and then 90.16 in Lausanne (9 July) when he joined the 90 metres club.
